HFT positions and basic safety rules
If you're a little confused about the different shooting positions that are allowed in HFT, then hopefully Larissa and her plethora of pink can help demonstrate it for you.
Basic gun safety; this is explained to all shooters in the safety briefing before a shoot and must be adhered to at all times. Never point your gun at anyone, even if you are sure it is not loaded, and when you are not shooting always carry it muzzle down and unloaded.
The Prone position
When shooting prone part of yourself or the gun must be in contact with the peg, and your trigger finger must be behind the firing line. -Thats the orange line in these pictures.
Balancing the rifle on the peg like this isn't illegal, but its not recommended as you aren't in complete control.
And if you try this with a spring gun it's liable to bounce off and meet you at the next peg!

Perfect position! You're touching the peg and your trigger finger is comfortably behind the firing line.
Can't see the target from the peg? Think laterally... any part of you can touch the peg, so is there a clear shot from the left or right hand side? Who needs Pilates!

The Kneeling position
There are two aspects to cover in the kneeling position; foot placement and arm support. Lets start with the feet...
The foot must remain in line with the knee. You are not allowed to twist it or turn it over and sit on it.
You can also use a beanbag for support under your knee, shin or foot area.

Arm / wrist support; the wrist should be positioned beyond the knee so it can move freely.
Sitting is not allowed!
The full official rules for HFT can be found in detail on the official UKAHFT site here, and are for all able bodied shooters. Anyone with a disability or impedance that prevents them from being able to take a shot in the required manner is exempt.
